Councillor Ann Holtom welcomes ban on wheel clamping

Tyburn Ward Liberal Democrat councillor Ann Holtom has strongly welcomed the news that the coalition government is to ban the clamping of vehicles parked on private land in England and Wales. The ban is set to be introduced in the government Freedom Bill in November and could be in place early next year. The move follows a long campaign against the cowboy clampers - with a prominent role played by Trading Standards Officers in Birmingham.

68 bus stop-press: Lib Dem councillor forces bus company to re-think

Local Lib Dem Councillor and Pype Hayes resident, Ann Holtom, has won an important concession from Centro over the scrapping of the 68 bus route. Working on behalf of local residents, Cllr Holtom confronted Centro and, during some tough negotiations, got them to alter the route of the 168 bus service so that it now runs through the Pype Hayes estate. One resident said "We would have liked the 68 to remain, but understand that cut backs have had to be made. Ann has done a great job in forcing the bus company to change the 168 service."

Fatal accident on Tyburn Road - Councillor speaks out

Following the accident at the junction of Tyburn Road and Hawkesyard Road on Saturday 7 August in which a pregnant mother of two lost her life and two children were injured, local Liberal Democrat councillor Ann Holtom has contacted the Cabinet member for traffic on Birmingham City Council to call for an investigation into road safety conditions in the area.

Shock as 68 bus service is axed - Lib Dem councillor acts

Concerned residents in Pype Hayes are demanding that National Express change their minds regarding the withdrawal of the 68 bus service which they plan to withdraw from 29th August. Cllr Ann Holtom who represents Pype Hayes residents within Tyburn Ward said: "The withdrawal of this essential route will be a bitter blow for Pype Hayes residents who will lose direct bus services to the Fort Retail Park, Erdington, Sutton Coldfield, Good Hope Hospital and ASDA at Minworth".

A38 flooding chaos - Ann speaks out against the vandals

Cllr Ann Holtom has deplored the reckless action of vandals in causing the Birmingham-Fazeley canal to flood last week. The flow of water resulted in the closure of the A38 between Castle Vale and Minworth, causing traffic chaos and disruption for residents, commuters and other travellers. Cllr Holtom condemned the action of the vandals who opened locks on the canal causing thousands of gallons of water and silt to escape and surge across the busy highway.
