Councillor refers relatives' concerns about local care home to City Council

Cllr Ann Holtom - a strong voice for Tyburn Ward residents

Tyburn Ward Liberal Democrat Councillor Ann Holtom, has asked Birmingham Council to look into concerns raised by relatives of residents at the Ridings Care Home for the Elderly, located on Farnborough Road, Castle Vale. The home is run by a private healthcare company.

In a statement Cllr Holtom said she had been contacted about the Ridings and that she had passed on the concerns raised with her to the Council. The Council has decided to investigate the issues raised and Cllr Holtom is awaiting their findings.

According to the news report in the Birmingham Evening Mail, the Council's adults and communities boss, Sue Anderson, has confirmed that the Council had received complaints about the Ridings, which has facilities to accommodate and care for 82 elderly people, many of whom are suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
